smartclip, an advertising technology platform specialized in addressable TV and owner of the programmatic multiscreen video SSP “SmartX Platform“, and HMS Media Solutions, a leading provider of broadcast automation solutions based in Germany, have signed a cooperation agreement. For the very first time, TV stations will now have the opportunity to benefit from the digital advertising potential even within their linear broadcast systems. Both companies have teamed up to offer a fully integrated end-to-end solution for live TV broadcast automation and digital advertising logistics. This will allow even small and mid-sized TV operators to automatically connect to the smartclip addressable TV advertising platform.
New, Fully Integrated Solution Provides Live TV, VOD and Interactive Tools to Build Communities and Monetize Audiences HMS Media Solutions, a leading provider of broadcast automation solutions based in Germany, and Swiss media company joiz Global, the creator of an innovative, award-winning community marketing and social TV platform, have partnered to provide a fully integrated end-to-end solution for live TV, video-on-demand (VOD) and community interaction. The offering will allow media companies of all sizes to develop new digital strategies which engage and monetize audiences more efficiently and cost effectively.
Our solutions have an interface to Joiz CMP, a community marketing solution that unites TV, online and mobile to increase consumer engagement and interaction. Directly address your viewers – with HMS. We enable you to broadcast ads for specific target audiences, comfortably scheduled via HbbTV or SCTE-35.
With our new Browser-based user interfaces you can manage our automation from everywhere. To interact with third party systems (NRCS, MAM, Traffic...) we offer our classic XML-API and now also a REST-based interface.
At booth SU10122 we will present the latest version of our broadcast automation solution DiSA Broadcast Suite, that provides a digital end-to-end workflow, from ingest to playout or distribution, no matter if SD, HD or both.

The UK-based TV channel OSC is broadcasting from the Berlin playout center of HMS since early 2013. OSC uses the DISA Broadcast Suite to distribute its program content via IP stream to network operators worldwide.
On behalf of the Vogtland Regional Fernsehen GmbH HMS recently operated a DiSA Broadcast Suite-based broadcast automation for the Saxon local TV channel VRF.
Salve TV, Sachsen Fernsehen and Kabeljournal are three additional German local content providers that use the DiSA dispatcher module (DiSA Broadcast Suite) for automatic uploads of their program contents into the external content management system (CMS) telvi® of Berlin-based Smart TV service provider M.E.N. GmbH. Once editorially described and scheduled in the DiSA Broadcast Suite the contents are automatically distributed to the Smart TV channels supplied by telvi®.
The HMS Teletext Inserter (TTX) recently received a major product update, that adds the ability to insert Teletext data into HD-SDI signals in accordance with SMPTE 2031 and OP-47. The transmitted content corresponds exactly with the DVB Teletext (ETSI EN 300 472), hence downstream encoders can use the data as is.
Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR, Central German Broadcasting) has been using an HMS documentation system to record radio programs since 2004. MDR uses Infinity, a modular media recording solution. In the context of a long-standing business partnership the system has recently been extensively renewed and upgraded.
The program contents of 24 German regional TV stations in Brandenburg, Berlin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are already available via satellite for a few weeks now. The newly launched channel BB-MV-Lokal-TV is free-to-air and provides daily 30-minute transmission windows for the participating content providers between 5:00 and 11:00 p.m..
In collaboration with Projektbüro HbbTV, Sächsische Landesanstalt für privaten Rundfunk und neue Medien (SLM) and HMS, the test operation of a Barker channel could be realized. The channel is broadcasted via satellite and makes use of the HbbTV® standard. As provider of broadcast solutions HMS was responsible for the technical implementation of this project.
