HMS extends Managed Service portfolio

managed service logo

At the Playout Center Berlin the HMS Managed Service portfolio now also covers the insertion of metadata, such as HbbTV URLs or EPG information, into incoming transport streams without re-encoding the original signal. Clients are able to upload metadata via file or web service. Our service then automatically starts re-multiplexing the transport stream and adding additional PSI and DVB-SI data.

The new Managed Service offer also contains monitoring the transport stream via ETSI TR 290 101 and sending error alerts via SNMP or email.

One of the first clients having our technology in active operation is Germany based Media Broadcast GmbH.

The program contents of 24 German regional TV stations in Brandenburg, Berlin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are already available via satellite for a few weeks now. The newly launched channel BB-MV-Lokal-TV is free-to-air and provides daily 30-minute transmission windows for the participating content providers between 5:00 and 11:00 p.m..

In collaboration with Projektbüro HbbTV, Sächsische Landesanstalt für privaten Rundfunk und neue Medien (SLM) and HMS, the test operation of a Barker channel could be realized. The channel is broadcasted via satellite and makes use of the HbbTV® standard. As provider of broadcast solutions HMS was responsible for the technical implementation of this project.
